About Us

We are a diverse congregation that welcomes all.  We believe that Jesus Christ, God's only Son, is the gift of Living Water, and that love is the evidence of Christian Faith, that diversity is a gift and enriches our lives, and that Christian faith is a journey we travel together.

History

The first worship services for Waiokeola Congregational Church were held at Kahala Elementary School in 1956.  In early 1957, the name Waiokeola was chosen from John 7:37-38, "If anyone thirst let him come to me to drink..out of his heart shall flow rivers of living water."  On June 30, 1957, Waiokeola received official standing in the Oahu Association of Congregational Christian Churches and Rev. Lawrence Jones was installed as minister.  Groundbreaking for the sanctuary and one-story educational building was held on September 13, 1957 and the current sanctuary was dedicated on May 11, 1958.  The pre-school opened in 1961 and enrolled 80 three- and four-year-olds.
